[01]NCAA Eligibility for Track

The eligibility steps

Register with the Eligibility Center

D1 and D2 recruits must create an NCAA Eligibility Center account, ideally by sophomore or junior year. This is the office that certifies whether you can compete and receive athletic aid.

Core courses and GPA

You must complete a set number of approved core academic courses and meet a minimum core-course GPA. Falling short on core courses is the most common eligibility problem, so map them out with your counselor early.

Amateurism

The NCAA also certifies your amateur status, meaning you have not competed professionally or accepted prohibited benefits in your sport. You complete an amateurism questionnaire and get certified before enrolling.
