Men's record: Mondo Duplantis 6.26 m

Armand "Mondo" Duplantis of Sweden set 6.26 m at the Paris Olympics on August 5, 2024, his 9th world record. He first broke the record in February 2020 at 6.17 m, surpassing Renaud Lavillenie's 6.16 m (2014). Each subsequent record has added 1-3 cm.

Women's record: Yelena Isinbayeva 5.06 m

Set on August 28, 2009, at the IAAF World Championships in Zurich. Isinbayeva held the record for 15+ years; nearest challengers (Sandi Morris, Katie Moon, Tina Sutej) have cleared 5.00-5.03 m but the 5.06 mark has stood.

Sergey Bubka's era: 6.14 m (1994-2014)

Bubka of Ukraine broke the men's record 35 times outdoor and indoor combined. His 6.14 m mark from July 31, 1994 stood for 20 years until Lavillenie's 6.16 m in February 2014. Bubka is widely regarded as the most dominant pole vaulter in history.
