Release velocity is the biggest lever
Distance scales with release velocity squared. Faster release = much more distance. Strength training, plyo work, and footwork drills all build release velocity.
Shot put distance comes from three things: release velocity, release angle, release height. Improve any one and the throw goes farther. Here's how to find your biggest gap and close it.

Most amateur throwers release too low (around 30 degrees). Add 8 degrees of release angle and you add several feet, no extra strength required.
Taller throwers have a built-in advantage. Shorter throwers can compensate with a higher release point at the moment of release. AI grades release height.
