Two inches costs a girl more than it costs a boy
Meets raise the bar in the same steps for everyone, and USATF youth rules set the high jump increment at 5cm, just under two inches. For a girl sitting at 4'10" that step is about 3.4 percent of the height she just cleared. For a boy at 6'2" the same two inches is 2.7 percent. Same bar, harder ask.
